What tools might provide me insight into the learners in my classroom and how might I use this information?
I teach special education preschool. Within the classroom we work on speech/ language skills, occupational skills, motor skills, behaviors, and/or basic academic skills. I have parents fill out questionnaires when their child starts school. After this week, I determined that I could put the questionnaires on Survey Monkey which might be easier for some families to fill out. It would also allow me to have them accessible electronically. During my questionnaire, I obtain information about the students’ interest, skills and needs.
I work a lot with students and determine what the reason behind behaviors is occurring. I have just recently discovered a website and iPad app called, “Classroom Dojo”. This site allows teacher to put all of the students’ names into the site, and the teacher can also place the positive behaviors and negative behaviors. The teacher can access this site and tap a positive or negative behavior as they occur in the classroom. This site will allow a teacher to produce report that can be reviewed to determine if a pattern occurs with the behaviors (time of day, day of the week, activity, ect). This will allow teacher to become better acquainted with their students’ behaviors and determine the antecedent which will lead to eventually working on the antecedent and reducing the behavior. This will allow me to better assist my students in becoming more productive learners which is important in the early years.

Week Two Learning
During week two, I feel that I am learning more about technology. I am still working on completely understanding all of the new sites. I must admit that I missed up my blog by only posting a page instead of a blog, and when I seen this in the classroom video it was a good dose of humility. I do feel that I am constantly learning new things each week. I anticipate looking back fourteen weeks from now and having such a deeper understanding of technology and how I can apply it into my classroom. I have been able to access two of the Twitter groups. I struggle to keep up with the fast moving text. I feel like I am stretching my mind to keep up with the fast pasted technology that is constantly changing which will only benefit me long term as an educator. Well week two is over and week three will begin … I wonder what is in store?
